County Offices, Courts and the Landfill will be closed on Monday, September 7 in observance of the Labor Day Holiday. Critical services at Larimer County will not be disrupted by this closure.
The Wellington Transfer Station is located on County Road 70 (also known as Owl Canyon Road), between County Roads 7 and 9. From Wellington, go north on County Road 9, turn east on County Road 70, and the transfer station is about 1/2 mile down the road. Owned and operated by Larimer County, the transfer station is located on the site of the Wellington Landfill, which was closed in 1986.
Open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays only year round.
Call (970) 498-5770 for 24-hour information.
The Wellington Transfer Station accepts household trash only. It cannot accept large items such as sofas or large wire spools. Tree branches four feet or shorter are acceptable. Longer branches will not be accepted. No appliances containing refrigerants are accepted. These items should be taken to the Larimer County Landfill.
Household hazardous wastes like pesticides, paint thinners and cleaners must be taken to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility at the landfill.
Checks are not accepted at the transfer station. All waste, regardless of type, size or weight — even trash in plastic bags — must be completely enclosed with a cover and secured to your vehicle. This policy is strictly enforced. Uncovered loads are charged double fees. Waste from outside Larimer County is charged 2 1/2 times the in-county fees.
*Unsecured loads subject to double fee. All loose-waste loads must be covered.
*No commercial waste accepted.
*Volumes are rounded to the nearest whole number (1.49 = 1 cubic yard; 1.5 = 2 cubic yards).
