  • September 15 Deadline to Apply for Senior Tax Exemption

    LARIMER County Senior Citizens who want to apply for the senior property tax exemption have until Tuesday, September 15, 2015 to do so. For those who qualify, 50 percent of the first $200,000 in actual value of the primary residence is exempted from property tax. Once an exemption application is filed and approved by the assessor, the exemption remains in effect until a disqualifying event occurs. There are several qualifications Seniors must meet. The application form is available in the Larimer County Assessor’s Office at 200 West Oak St., Fort Collins, and online. Contact Assessment Specialist Steve Graham at 970-498-7073, for information.

    The Larimer County Workforce Center and BizWest Media again join forces to host the annual Bixpo/Workforce Symposium on Thursday, September 17 at The Ranch in Loveland. This year’s event - “People, Productivity and Profits” – focuses on two major themes: Filling Skills Gaps through Strategic Partnerships Supporting Your Workforce to Meet Business Goals The event features more than 50 speakers, panelists and BixTalk presenters sharing innovative models, best practices and proactive strategies that address workforce challenges.   • Apply Now! Larimer County Academy (Ages 18-25)

    Applications are being accepted for the Larimer County Academy (LCA), a new program offered by the Board of Larimer County Commissioners aimed at engaging an 18-25 year old demographic in county governmental affairs. The class meets monthly, October through April. The deadline to apply is Monday, September 21st.

  • Larimer County Conservation Corps Hosts Wild & Scenic Film Festival

    On Friday, September 18, the LCCC is hosting one of the largest environmental film festivals in the nation, the Wild & Scenic Film Festival at CSU's Lory Student Center Theater. The festival offers stories of adventure and conservation, paired with stunning cinematography. They have selected 10 films that offer audiences a journey into some of the most beautiful places on earth, complemented by stories of inspiration, activism and finding solutions to restore our planet.
