Nominations are now open for the annual Judge Conrad L. Ball Award. Judge Ball was for many years a loved and respected jurist in Larimer County. Each spring this award is given in his memory to a recipient who has significantly contributed toward improving the quality of criminal justice in the County.
Prescribed Burn at Devil's Backbone Open Space - Do Not Call 911!

A prescribed burn is scheduled at Devil's Backbone Open Space Wednesday, January 25 - Friday, January 27. The purpose is to reduce the cover of exotic grasses, improve wildlife forage and habitat, and reduce fuel loads that could contribute to a wildfire. Fire is a natural disturbance factor in western grasslands and a prescribed burn is a safe, low-intensity fire that simulates lighting-strike fires or fires historically set by Native Americans.
