The Board of Larimer County Commissioners today honored Larimer County/CSU Extension Services Director Laurel Kubin for receiving the Mary Ellen Edmondson Educator of the Year Award for 2013 awarded by the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE).
The AFCPE has over 800 members and 1,500 certificate holders - all of whom provide financial counseling and financial education to their clients and program participants. In order to honor the excellence of their members and their programs, AFCPE conducts an active awards program.
Kubin receives a $200 award and plaque from AFCPE for dedicated service to teaching and outreach. The criteria included designing or using creative and innovative programs with impact and/or service to the profession and AFCPE. The educator is also a mentor who devotes a large portion of his/her time to educating people.
AFCPE was established 30 years ago and has a membership composed of professionals employed in military family service centers, in Cooperative Extension, on college and university campuses, in financial services businesses, and as private practitioners.
