Release Date: Oct 13, 2013
Larimer County Sheriff's Office
Sgt. Rafael Sanchez
At approximately 11:30 am today, Sunday, October 13, 2013, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office Deputies assigned to the Estes Park area were dispatched to a disturbance in the 3500 block of Colard Lane in unincorporated Larimer County near Lyons, Colorado. A subject identified as an Hispanic male approximately 54 years of age was alleged to have discharged a firearm during the disturbance and has barricaded himself inside his home.
Due to the remote location, road closures and detours caused by the recent flood, Deputies from both Larimer County and Boulder County Sheriff's Offices and Troopers from the Colorado State Patrol haveresponded to the incident. I can confirm the Larimer County SWAT team is currently at the incident location. We are executing a search warrant in reference to the incident. SWAT has been deployed as a precaution to insure public safety. We don't anticipate necessarily any issues but want to err on the side of caution.
We are asking people to avoid the area due to its remoteness and difficulty in accessing the area. Emergency and tactical vehicles have priority at this time to access the incident location.
This is currently an active investigation and no further information is available at this time.
