Larimer County Computer Donations

The Board of Larimer County Commissioners today approved the donation of 4 computers to the Town of Wellington, 10 for the Wellington Library and 1 for the Northern Colorado Regional Computer Forensics Lab. Today’s meeting was also attended by Wellington Mayor Jack Brinkhoff , Lieutenant Steven Bebell, Information Services Director for the Larimer County Sheriff's Office who facilitated the donation, and Wellington Library Director Kathy Bornhoft who said, “Because of this donation the library is able to provide the patrons of the library with more computer access and computer classes.”
 
Larimer County uses desktop computers for 4 years and laptops for 3 years and then sells them to the community and employees. Even with this schedule there are surplus computers at times and these are sometimes donated. “Larimer County doesn’t always have used surplus computers available” says County Manager Linda Hoffmann, “but when we do we’d rather donate them than pay to have them recycled.”
 
Requests come in occasionally from non-profit agencies that have outdated technology and are looking for upgrades.  Donations were also recently made to Loveland Habitat for Humanity ReStore and Larimer County Search and Rescue.
