Health & Environment

Mission: To promote a healthy community and reduce unnecessary suffering caused by preventable disease, disability, or death. This mission is accomplished by providing community health and environmental health services, communicable disease control, health education, vital records management, health data assessment, development of policies that advance the public's health, and advocacy for community-based services that provide needed health care.

Rabies in Larimer County

The number of animals found with rabies in Larimer County continues to rise. The animals with rabies now include skunks, a fox, raccoons, and two horses in Weld County. Take precautions against rabies by having your pets and livestock vaccinated and following simple steps to prevent exposure to rabies.

Change in vaccination policy

The Health Department is no longer able to provide routine vaccines to most people with insurance. This is due to Affordable Care Act regulations on use of federally-funded vaccinations. If you have questions on whether or not you are eligible for Health Department vaccines, call the Health Department office location nearest you.

The payment policy for the International Travel Vaccination Clinic remains unchanged. Clients receiving their travel vaccines at the Health Department will be required to pay for the vaccine at the time of service.

Healthy Communities program assistance for pregnant women

No health insurance? If you are pregnant or have children, the Healthy Communities program at the Health Department can help connect you to health care. The program also assists those already receiving Medicaid and/or CHP+ in understanding their benefits and accessing medical, dental, vision, mental health, and specialty services.
