Rist Canyon Mountain Festival 2013 will be held on Sunday, September 1st. . Each year the festival is held on Labor Day Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM and is the main fundraiser to fund the needs of the fire department. The Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department (RCVFD) sponsors the mountain festival each year as a fundraiser. Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department is a Colorado non-profit corporation certified on June 21, 1975 and operates as a non-taxed based fire department. Liability insurance is purchased with Flood and Peterson Insurance, Inc., contact agent is Suzannah Preisendorf, 970 – 506-3261. (see attached file for coverage)
The festival is held on property owned by Gene and Gail Michaud located at 11540 Rist Canyon Road, Bellvue CO 80512. The location is a 15 acre open grassy meadow along with 4.5 acres of parking space. There is approximately 100 - 150 RCVFD volunteers that staff the event. There is an estimated 1000 attendees on the grounds at one time. . Parking is provided off the main road on 4.5 acres and is staffed by approximately 20 people with a main entrance and an exit. There are no alcoholic beverages allowed on the festival grounds. This is strictly enforced. There is a registered nurse on the grounds at all time along with RCVFD EMS and the fire department First Responders. RCVFD has a QRT vehicle on site for transporting any injured if needed. The event site is located where RCVFD has their landing site for the Flight for Life helicopter. Each year the Flight for Life helicopter flies in at noon (if not on call) for a demonstration, brief talk and showing of the helicopter.
Health Department: There are portable toilets located in three locations on the grounds of which there are 8 regular and 2 handicaps. The portable units are provided by Waste Management, contact, Lakisya Rooks, Special Event Coordinator, 303-486-6020. Hand washing units are also provided along with the toilet units and are located at each location All food is provided by licensed Larimer County vendors. I have attached a number of certificates that the rental tents have been treated with fire retardant chemicals. Please let me know if the building department will require any additional documentation.
Comments: If the stage is over 120 sq. ft., it needs a building permit for a temporary structure to verify it meets building code requirements. Please contact me if you need any information on permits and codes. Eric Fried 498-7705
