Description:
This event is a construction project to restore a portion of the Poudre River streambank and enhance aquatic habitat. This project will address the severe erosion of the east bank of the river and will enhance the fisheries in this area and provide other ecological benefits.

The City of Greeley will fund and implement this construction project and provide engineering and inspection to assure its success. This project is located on property owned by the Colorado Division of Parks and Wildlife and maintained by Larimer County Natural Resources. Both of these entities have reviewed and approved the attached plans and are in the process of issuing Special Use Permits for the construction. The Larimer County Floodplain Review Board has reviewed this project for compliance with FEMA and County Floodplain encroachment standards. The US Army Corps of Engineers is in the process of issuing a Nationwide Authorization for this work in the river.

Construction for this work is anticipated to occur for an eight-week period between August 3, 2012 and October 15, 2012. The contractor will be on the site full time during this period. Traffic control and temporary trail detours will be arranged through discussions with Larimer County representative Jeffrey Boring when the project starts. Periodic maintenance and monitoring of the improvements will occur for a period up to five years after installation or until the Corps has determined that the project is complete.
