The Northern Colorado Birding Fair offers both Presentations and Clinics to help you build on your birding skills and learn more about the world of birding. Presentations are held in the outdoor classroom, and clinics are in the shop. Clinics are more in-depth, and will help you move from being a long time beginner at birding to the next level.
9:00 am Doc Wild as Prof. Avian Guano, Bir. D.- Talking "Bird"
"Avian" means "of the birds". "Guano" means, well, you will have to look that one up... After he "drops in", this eccentric German professor of ornithology proves he has been studying birds a little too long. His bird-brained view on birds and his legendary mimicry of bird songs shows his intimacy with our feathered friends. The good professor's bones are probably hollow, but beneath his wacky exterior is a solid knowledge of fascinating bird lore.
Denny Olson's, aka Critterman, aka Dr. Avian Guano, formal training as a biologist and geologist, as well as teaching nature for over 20 years in the north woods and mountain west, has given him expertise in many disciplines. He has done research on beavers, hares and loons. From those scientific beginnings he forged an unlikely union between science, humor, and drama, and established a national reputation as an innovative performer and educator.
