The Larimer County Sheriff's Office, Fort Collins Police Services, Loveland Police Department and Berthoud Police Department will be joining the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association this Wednesday, May 22, in escorting the traveling Vietnam Wall memorial through Larimer County for display at the Veterans Plaza in Spring Canyon Community Park. This is an 80% replica of the actual Vietnam Memorial located in Washington, D.C.
The memorial will be on display May 23rd through May 27th as a highlight to the weekend's Memorial Day activities. The wall includes the names of 623 veterans from Colorado, including 13 from Fort Collins, 6 from Loveland, 2 from Berthoud and 1 from Wellington.
The local agencies will join the memorial motorcade Wednesday afternoon at approximately 3:30 p.m. at I-25 and Highway 56. The memorial will travel west on Highway 56, north on Taft/Shields (County Road 17) and west on Horsetooth Road to Spring Canyon Community Park.
In Loveland, the memorial will pass Centennial Park and North Lake Park; residents are encouraged to utilize those parks for viewing because of the available parking areas.
The Larimer County Sheriff's Office Color Guard will participate in the annual Memorial Day celebration event on Saturday, May 25th at 11:30 a.m. at Veterans Plaza.
The Fort Collins Police Services Color Guard will provide a rifle salute on Sunday, May 26th at 7:00 p.m.
