Sheriff Urges Caution

Due to the warm, windy weather and dry conditions, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office requests that residents exercise extreme caution with any potential source of ignition. Sources of ignition that should be used with caution include campfires, slash pile burns, cigarette butts, heat transfer from exhaust systems in grassy areas and any other heat source that could potentially start a fire.  

While conditions are not yet severe enough for a fire ban or a restriction, we are in that time of year where vegetation has yet to "green-up" further increasing the fire risk. Conditions are being evaluated on an on-going basis. While a fire ban or restriction is not being imposed, we are requesting the public's assistance and vigilance. Please be careful and assist us to protect our county and its residents from fire danger.
