The trailhead is closed from July 21 to mid-September due to construction on County Road 32E. The Poudre River Trail will remain open, but access to the trailhead will be closed starting at the bridge over the Poudre River. River access will also be closed.

Mule deer, white-tailed deer, fox and coyotes can all be seen wandering through this area. There is a prairie dog colony on the east side of the open space. The prairie dogs are a consistent food source for the raptors including the local bald eagles.

Bird Sightings
Great horned owls, red-tailed hawks and bald eagles are residents of River Bluffs Open Space. Various waterfowl enjoy the habitat of the Poudre River including wood ducks, teal, shovelers, mallards and mergansers.

Weather conditions can change rapidly. Dress in layers, carry extra clothing and be prepared for cold and wet weather.
