Please note the following changes have been made to the renewal process for concealed handgun permits:

ATTENTION LARIMER COUNTY CONCEALED HANDGUN PERMIT HOLDERS:

Governor Hickenlooper signed House Bill 14-1166 on March 14, 2014, requiring an immediate change in the procedure for Concealed Handgun Permit renewals.

What this means for you is that if you move out of the county that issued your permit, you no longer need to return to that county to renew it.  You must renew your permit with the Sheriff in the county that you currently reside, have a second home, or where you rent/lease property for your business. We are providing the statutory language below for you to determine your eligibility when you seek permit renewal; please review all relevant statutes related to renewals for the steps you are required to take to renew your permit:

SECTION 3.In Colorado Revised Statutes, 18-12-211, amend(1) as follows:

18-12-211. Renewal of permits.(1) (a) Within one hundred twenty days prior to expiration of a permit, the permittee may obtain a renewal form from the sheriff OF THE COUNTY OR CITY AND COUNTY IN WHICH THE PERMITTEE RESIDES OR FROM THE SHERIFF OF THE COUNTY OR CITY AND COUNTY IN WHICH THE PERMITTEE MAINTAINS A SECONDARY RESIDENCE OR OWNS OR LEASES REAL PROPERTY USED BY THE PERMITTEE IN A BUSINESS and renew the permit by submitting to the sheriff a completed renewal form, a notarized affidavit stating that the permittee remains qualified pursuant to the criteria specified in section 18-12-203 (1) (a) to (1) (g), and the required renewal fee not to exceed fifty dollars, as set by the sheriff pursuant to section 18-12-205 (5). The renewal form MUST meet the requirements specified in section 18-12-205 (1) for an application.
