Provides intake and assessment for initial referrals for human services child protection and child support programs.. Conducts initial screenings and assessment, collecting required information for program intake.. Works with the appropriate program staff to assure required information is obtained and appropriate referrals are made.

- Provide administrative support for assigned programs including documenting client information, maintaining client records, processing related paperwork and documents, and maintaining records of program statistics.
- Coordinates the referral and intake process.
- Acts as a resource to families, outside agencies and staff; answers telephones.
- Maintains system for efficient collection and retrieval of client and program information for staff and outside agencies.
- Assists in tracking enrollment and monitoring timelines.
- Requests, responds to and provides information to collateral staff, departments, agencies, and the general public regarding program services, collateral resources, and case information as appropriate.
- Attend seminars, conferences, workshops, classes, lectures, etc., as appropriate, to enhance and maintain knowledge of trends and developments in field.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Receive juveniles arrested by law enforcement on detainable charges or active warrants.
- Conduct detention screening assessments as defined by Senate Bill 94 to determine appropriate placement of juveniles including home detention, detoxification or psychological center placement, or traditional detention.
- Photograph, fingerprint, and administer breathalyzer testing to juveniles upon intake at the Hub as needed.
- Interview law enforcement, parents, juveniles, and related parties to gather social and family information.
- Monitor juveniles placed on Home Detention pending court appearances.
- Monitor juveniles placed on Electronic Home Monitoring (EHM), which may include tracking, performing status checks, communicating with the monitoring service provider, and making recommendations to law enforcement or guardians regarding breaches of detention.
- Attend detention hearings as needed; explain the detention hearing processes and goals to families.
- Receive calls from families and community agencies including law enforcement, school representatives, hospitals, and mental health professionals regarding allegations of child abuse and neglect and youth at risk; gather and document information; assess level of emergency; provide temporary safety plans; make appropriate referrals to in-house child welfare caseworkers or collateral agency services.
- Assess eligibility of clients for the family resource program; complete referrals; explain program services; assess level of emergency; provide temporary safety plans; refer families to community agency services when criteria for program are not met.
- Receive juveniles picked-up by law enforcement on non-detainable charges or runaway status; contact parents/guardians; assess and coordinate appropriate disposition of juveniles; monitor juveniles pending disposition.
- Provide crisis mediation/intervention to de-escalate immediate conflict situations as needed.
- Spend a large amount of time on the phone taking reports regarding child protection and safety in the community. Document the information gathered in the computer, as well as communicate the information to the case assignor and/or supervisor on call.
- Practices and techniques of interviewing and fact finding for possible crisis intervention.
- Community resources including medical, mental health, nutrition, social, educational, financial, and human services.
- General scope and application of laws and regulations specific to the program.
- Basic principles, practices, and objectives as related to program.
- Routine software and business applications including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases.
- Operation of standard office equipment including fax machines, copiers, and computers.

- Understand and apply Senate Bill 94 guidelines for juvenile detention screening as it relates to least restrictive placement of juveniles, juvenile court attendance, and safety of the community.
- Hook-up and troubleshoot electronic Home Monitor (EHM) equipment.
- Remain focused and on task when taking child protection reports from parties in crisis.
- Understand the significance of keeping children safe
- Work a variety of hours and shifts including nights and weekends.
- Two years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities
- High school diploma or GED required, supplemented by coursework in social work, psychology, criminal justice, or a related human services discipline. Equivalent to an Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver's License.
- Ability to be sworn in as an Officer of the Court by the Chief Judge in order to conduct juvenile detention screenings.
