Accounting Supervisor / Non-exempt
Accounting Supervisor performs supervisory, accounting and clerical work involved in the accounting function of a department. Work involves scheduling and directing work assignments of clerical accounting employees, meeting deadlines for data processing and financial requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Receives general supervision from the administrative supervisor or higher-level management staff position.
- Exercises direct supervision over assigned accounting clerical personnel.
- Verifies accuracy of data processing for accounting information.
- Responds to verbal and written inquiries about accounts payable and receivable.
- Responsible for accounts payable systems; including receipt of all invoices, sorting, review for approvals and account numbers, requesting checks or processing interdepartmental transfers and invoice cancellation.
- Responsible for items billed and accounts receivable, including invoicing, handling cash receipts and statements, and processing interdepartmental transfers.
- Prepares journal entries or checks those prepared by others.
- Assists with special accounting projects.
- Prepares summary reports of accounts supervised.
- Reconciles budget and expense statements with departmental accounts.
- Orders office supplies, furniture and equipment as authorized.
- Federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to governmental accounting and budgeting.
- Routine software and business applications including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases.
- Supervisory principles, procedures, and methods including selection, training, discipline, and evaluation.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Read and comprehend department and County rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Prepare financial reports to maintain journals, ledgers, and complex file systems.
- Make mathematical computations quickly and accurately.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members
- High School diploma or GED required, supplemented by specialized courses in accounting and business practices.
- Four years of progressively responsible experience in maintaining financial and statistical records and at least two years of supervisory experience, in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities.
