Duties

Seasonal Parks Worker - Minimum Level

  • Perform general upkeep and cleaning of campgrounds and park facilities.
  • Perform landscape maintenance including mowing, watering, pruning, and weed control.
  • Operate a variety of light equipment including mowers and chainsaws; perform preventative maintenance of tools and equipment used in parks grounds maintenance including mowers, weed eaters, hand tools, etc.
  • Advise park users of recreational opportunities and park regulations.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

Seasonal Parks Worker - Mid-Level
In addition to the duties/qualifications of the Seasonal Parks Worker ? Minimum Level:

  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment including tractors, bobcats, and backhoes.
  • May supervise a crew engaged in upkeep and cleaning of campgrounds and park facilities.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

Seasonal Parks Worker - Advanced Level
In addition to the duties/qualifications of the Seasonal Parks Worker ? Minimum Level and Mid-Level:

  • Assist in performing plumbing, carpentry, electrical, masonry, and other trade skills.
  • Assist in maintaining buoys, docks, and other water related facilities.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

Seasonal Parks Construction Worker - Minimum Level

  • Perform general construction and maintenance tasks.
  • The use of basic hand tools.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and upkeep of hand tools.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

Seasonal Parks Construction Worker - Mid-Level
In addition to the duties/qualifications of the Seasonal Parks Construction Worker - Minimum Level:

  • Perform a moderate range of construction tasks including earth work and landscaping, carpentry, and masonry.
  • Operate a moderate variety of heavy and light equipment and power tools including skidsteer loader, trencher, small dump truck, water truck, demolition saw, chain saw, and power tools related to construction.
  • Drive truck and trailer with a GVWR of less than 10,000 pounds.
  • Daily equipment preventative maintenance.
  • May supervise a crew of workers or volunteers engaged in general construction tasks.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

Seasonal Parks Construction Worker - Advanced Level
In addition to the duties/qualifications of the Seasonal Parks Construction Worker - Minimum Level and Mid-Level:

  • Perform a wide range of construction tasks including plumbing, pipe laying, metal work, and slope and grade measuring and establishment.
  • Operate a wide range of heavy and light equipment and power tools including skidsteer attachments, backhoes, wheel loaders, landscape loaders, slope and grading instruments, and concrete/asphalt saw.
  • Drive truck and trailer combination of greater than 10,000 pounds GVWR.
  • Conduct vehicle inspection reports.
  • Supervise a crew of workers.

Park Restroom Custodian

  • Perform upkeep and cleaning of all outdoor restrooms in the park area.
  • Push, pull, and lift heavy objects.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

Seasonal Trail Crew Worker

  • Construct and maintain trails.
  • Construct related structures such as retaining walls, stairs, water bars, switchbacks, rock walls, etc.
  • Construct and maintain fences.
  • Assist in a variety of natural resource management projects.
  • Operate and maintain equipment used in the performance of assigned tasks including all-terrain vehicles, four-wheel drive vehicles, walk-behind track loaders, chain saws, and hand and power tools.
  • Perform heavy, physical labor involved in assigned park trails construction and maintenance duties for extended periods of time; work out of doors in all weather conditions, as required.
  • Anticipate unsafe circumstances; take proper safety precautions to prevent accidents.
  • Install signs and assist with landscape and re-vegetation projects.
  • May act as a lead worker to less experienced seasonal workers and volunteers.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

Seasonal Boat Inspector

  • Conduct inspections of boats launching and leaving Carter Lake and Horsetooth Reservoir for aquatic invasive species for the purpose of preventing the spread of such invasive species. Quarantine and decontaminate infected vessels.
  • Provide information to visitors on aquatic invasive species and initiatives to prevent their spread. Explain applicable rules and regulations and distribute printed educational materials to visitors.
  • Advise park visitors of recreational opportunities and public use regulations.
  • Greet a wide variety of park visitors in a friendly, welcoming, and helpful manner, and communicate effectively with a wide diversity of individuals and groups.
  • May supervise a crew engaged in boat inspections and/or act as a lead worker to less experienced seasonal workers.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Seasonal Parks Worker - Minimum Level

  • Hazards associated with the work and proper safety precautions.
  • Stand and walk for long periods of time and walk long distances over rough terrain.
  • Push, pull, and lift heavy objects.
  • Operate mowers and string trimmers.
  • Use and maintain groundskeeping equipment, mowers, and string trimmers.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Greet a very wide variety of park visitors in a friendly, welcoming, and helpful manner, and communicate effectively with a wide diversity of individuals and groups.
  • Use and maintain groundskeeping equipment, mowers, and string trimmers.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other county employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.

Seasonal Parks Worker - Mid-Level

  • Landscaping and groundskeeping practices.

Seasonal Parks Worker - Advanced Level
In addition to the duties/qualifications of the Seasonal Parks Worker - Minimum Level and Mid-Level:

  • Some knowledge of many construction trades is desired.
  • Experience in the use of hand tools, power tools, and groundskeeping equipment is desired.
  • Must be able to swim.?

Seasonal Parks Construction Worker - Minimum Level

  • Hazards associated with the work and proper safety precautions.
  • Limited basic construction practices.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Greet a very wide variety of park visitors in a friendly, welcoming, and helpful manner, and communicate effectively with a wide diversity of individuals and groups.
  • Work independently without immediate supervision.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other county employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.

Seasonal Parks Construction Worker - Mid-Level

  • A variety of construction practices

Seasonal Parks Construction Worker - Advanced Level

  • A wide range of construction practices.

Park Restroom Custodian

  • Work with little supervision.
  • Ability to drive a standard transmission.

Seasonal Trail Crew Worker

  • Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in trail construction and maintenance, including walk-behind track loaders.
  • Trail building techniques including water bars, switchbacks, rock walls, and related structures.
  • Construction trades.
  • Landscaping techniques.
  • Operation of power and hand tools in construction and maintenance projects.
  • Safe work practices and procedures.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees.
  • Perform duties independently without close supervision.
  • Accomplish the assigned workload in a timely manner and meet established performance standards and objectives.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of trail construction and maintenance equipment.
  • Perform physically demanding labor in a variety of weather conditions in remote locations.
  • Push, pull, and lift heavy objects.
  • Walk long distances over rugged terrain.

Seasonal Boat Inspector

  • Hazards associated with the work and proper safety precautions and practices.
  • Park regulations.
  • Boat inspection training will be provided. Basic boating knowledge is preferred.
  • Understand the organization and operation of the Larimer County Department of Natural Resources and other park agencies.
  • Interpret, apply, and enforce department rules and policies.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.

Qualifications:

Seasonal Parks Worker - Minimum Level

  • Three months of experience in general landscaping and/or groundskeeping desired.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Possession of a valid Colorado Driver's License.

Seasonal Parks Worker - Mid-Level
In addition to the duties/qualifications of the Seasonal Parks Worker - Minimum Level:

  • Six months of experience in general landscaping and/or groundskeeping required. Prior experience operating related equipment required. Previous supervisory experience desired.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required by starting date.

Seasonal Parks Worker - Advanced Level
In addition to the duties/qualifications of the Seasonal Parks Worker ? Minimum Level and Mid-Level:

  • One year of experience in general landscaping and/or groundskeeping required. Prior experience operating related equipment required. Previous supervisory experience strongly desired.


Seasonal Parks Construction Worker - Minimum Level

  • Three months of experience in general construction.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Possession of a valid Colorado Driver's License required.

Seasonal Parks Construction Worker - Mid-Level
In addition to the duties/qualifications of the Seasonal Parks Construction Worker - Minimum Level:

  • Six months experience in general construction and general construction practices. Prior experience operating and using related equipment and tools required. Some previous supervisory experience desired.

Seasonal Parks Construction Worker - Advanced Level
In addition to the duties/qualifications of the Seasonal Parks Construction Worker - Minimum Level and Mid-Level:

  • One year of experience in general construction required. Prior experience operating related equipment required. Previous supervisory experience strongly desired.

Park Restroom Custodian

  • Janitorial experience desired.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Possession of a valid Colorado Driver's License.

Seasonal Trail Crew Worker

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Possession of a valid Colorado Driver's License.

Seasonal Boat Inspector

  • High School Diploma or GED desired.

Physical Requirements:

Seasonal Parks Worker - Minimum Level

  • Stand and walk for long periods of time and walk long distances over rough terrain.
  • Push, pull, and lift heavy objects.

Seasonal Parks Construction Worker - Minimum Level

  • Stand and walk for long periods of time. Walk and work on rough terrain.
  • Push, pull, lift, and carry heavy objects.

Seasonal Boat Inspector

  • Stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Work under varying degrees of stress for extended periods of time in an outdoor environment including temperature extremes.
  • Lift, kneel, carry, push, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, grasp, walk, run, and balance in the performance of assigned tasks.
  • Have appropriate voice and hearing skills to be clearly understood in public contacts.
  • Have good cognitive skills and awareness of work accuracy.
  • Must be capable of working under stressful situations and with people in conflict.
  • Must have fine and gross motor skills.
