Program Assistant - TEMP
Provides English/Spanish interpretation services in support of Health Department programs as assigned.

- Provides English/Spanish interpretation services.
- Receives general supervision from higher level technical, professional, or administrative staff.
- Exercises no supervision.
- Interview potential clients to obtain background information and assess health and human services needs.
- Provide an explanation of program services and benefits to potential clients.
- Assist enrollment of eligible clients into program and assist clients in completing applications and enrollment forms; check for accuracy and process applications and appropriate documents and forms.
- Assist in developing a plan to meet the needs of individual program clients including medical, nutritional, educational, transportation, and related services.
- Refer clients to appropriate community providers, other department or County programs, and collateral agencies for services to meet needs of client.
- Assist client in obtaining services by coordinating appointments, advocating or translating for client, and providing or making referrals for transportation; follow up and assess client compliance with program; arrange additional services as needed.
- Perform administrative work in support of the program including maintaining and updating client records, and processing applications, enrollment forms, and related paperwork.
- Respond to inquiries from providers, other County departments, outside agencies, and the public; provide program related information; resolve routine issues.
- Participate in educational and informational activities such as community fairs, special events, and related boards and committees.
- Attend meetings, conferences, and workshops as assigned.
- Perform other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Read and comprehend department and County rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Provide professional customer service to clients and public.
- Operation of standard office equipment including fax machines, copiers, and computers.
- Modern office practices and procedures.
- Record keeping and reporting procedures.
- Routine software and business applications including, but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases.
- Guide participants according to established program guidelines.
- Refer clients to other staff, departments, and agencies as appropriate.
- Evaluate and implement program policies and procedures.
- Cultural and social values of assigned clientele.
- Principles of human behavior.
- County health and human services programs and services.
- Available community resources including medical, nutritional, social, educational, and financial.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
- High School diploma or GED required. Additional coursework or training in human services preferred.
- One year of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities.
- Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and provide dependable transportation.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills required.
