County Offices are also closed on Friday, November 27 while the Courts, District Attorney, Landfill, Household Hazardous Waste, and Recycle Center are open. Critical services at Larimer County will not be disrupted by this closure.

Assists in the day-to-day management of administrative and clinical support functions in providing public health care and treatment within the scope of the Reproductive Health and Family Planning Clinics and functions to ensure program operations flow smoothly. Interacts with a diverse group of clients as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization

  • Receives direct supervision from the Assistant Community Health and Environment Director.
  • Exercises no direct supervision.
  • Explain examination procedures and prepare patients for examination.
  • Assist clinician with client exams and procedures in examining room as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and current documentation of services provided; record and secure all lab work for specific clinic.
  • Obtain information and check for completeness of all medical records.
  • Maintain inventory of clinic and pharmacy supplies and equipment for medical exams and request orders for these as needed; keep examination rooms stocked.
  • Clean, sterilize, and sanitize the clinic area daily in accordance with clinic policy.
  • Under the supervision of a Public Health Nurse or Nurse practitioner, assist with telephone triage and answer and respond to general medical telephone inquiries.
  • Assess for referral to HIV testing, Hepatitis C testing, and STD testing as indicated, and other community resources.
  • May assist with counseling and testing in the Counseling Testing Site.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, agency personnel, and other providers.
  • Provide client with ongoing supplies based on parameters of current written orders.
  • Assess presence or absence of any health risk factors based on written and verbal responses to questions and refer to nurse practitioner as appropriate.
  • Maintain a lab book through recording daily lab procedures conducted, obtaining and tracking lab reports, recording clinical statistics, and assisting with billing procedures.
  • Coordinate reporting of positive test results with the State Health Department.
  • Keep informed of current medical issues and continuing education topics pertinent to the role.
  • Participate in routine audits of clinic charts and create data reports, as necessary and required by the program and Colorado Department of Health.
  • Handle highly confidential matters and collect information as requested for use by the director of the clinic.
  • Participate in the development of policy changes.
  • Take vital signs, height, and weight measurements; perform laboratory screenings as indicated and prepare specimens for transport to outside labs; obtain urinalysis and hemoglobin samples and record results in accordance with department procedures.
  • Collect and label specimens based on patient history and complaint; perform laboratory tests.
  • Review client medical and social histories; prepare and maintain client charts, review records for completeness and accuracy of information, and record appropriate client information.
  • Provide counseling and educational information related to family planning and women's health issues including STD, HIV testing, birth control methods and potential side effects, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing, colposcopy and cryotherapy procedures, immunizations, nutrition, weight control, substance abuse, smoking risks, and domestic violence.
  • May schedule clients for various lab procedures in accordance with program protocols and assist clients in finding appropriate resources for care that is beyond the scope of the clinic.
  • Dispense oral contraceptives and transdermal patch orders
  • Maintain clinical area and equipment; assist provider and facilitate efficient provision of Clinic services.

  • Knowledge of grammar and composition.
  • Two years of relative experience, preferably one as a Certified Medical Assistant.
  • Certified Medical Assistant or the ability to obtain certification within one year.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver's License.
  • CPR certification.

Work Environment:

  • Daily exposure to potentially infectious pathogens, including, but not limited to those that are bloodborne.
