Health Education Supervisor
Performs a variety of administrative and technical health education and consulting services; develops and implements a health education program; supervises and coordinates program staff and activities.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Receives general supervision from the Director of Community Health Services.
- Exercises direct supervision over professional, technical, and clerical staff.
- Develop, administer, and evaluate program goals, objectives, and activities.
- Exercise direct, first-level supervision of positions, employees, operations, and activities within a public health education program; may include coordinating staff training, assigning and reviewing work, participating in the interview and selection process, making recommendations impacting pay, status, and disciplinary action, evaluating performance independently or in conjunction with a higher-level supervisor/manager, and approving time off.
- Prepare reports, position papers, resolutions, and procedures for health education programs and issues.
- Develop and manage the budget; review and approve expenditures for assigned programs.
- Locate and secure funds and community resources for implementation of programs and activities; research and prepare grant proposals.
- Serve as consultant concerning health education and health promotion; advise staff on health education activities and provide technical staff assistance.
- Act as resource or expert in program area for department and community agencies concerning health information and education; keep current on developments in the health education field and incorporate them into programs and services.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other community health agencies, organizations, and coalitions to promote health education issues, programs, and services.
- Coordinate program activities and services with other departments and divisions, outside agencies, and community groups.
- Develop and implement educational/informational presentations and materials including, fact sheets, newsletters and advertisements, web information, and talking points as appropriate.
- Develop communication plans and coordinate public information activities; determine utilization of media sources such as newspapers, radio, television, audio-visual and printed materials to carry out public relations activities related to grant/program requirements.
- Participate in various committees and boards related to program activities and responsibilities.
- Perform other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
- Principles, practices, objectives, and methods as related to program development, evaluation, promotion, marketing, and media communications in a health education program.
- Principles and practices as related to program administration and management in a health education program.
- Scope and application of policies, laws, and regulations pertaining to public health programs.
- Principles and practices of health education, public health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Basic principles and practices of epidemiology.
- Recordkeeping and reporting procedures.
- Principles and practices of grant/budget management and administration.
- Supervisory principles, procedures, and methods including selection, training, discipline, and evaluation.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Supervise and mentor professional and support staff in a productive and positive manner.
- Design, implement, and evaluate health education programs.
- Perform effective public speaking to groups of varied interests and backgrounds; perform negotiation and conflict resolution to build community partnerships.
- Write and review grant proposals and reports.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
- Three years of progressively responsible experience in health program administration and development, health education, or a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities.
- Equivalent to a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Health Education, Public Health, Health Science, Health Administration, or a related field.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver's License.
