HS Training Specialist I
Develops, provides, and coordinates new and ongoing trainings for all public assistance programs administered by the Benefits Planning Division.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Receives general supervision from a division manager or professional level supervisor.
- Exercises no supervision.
- Develop, modify, and provide training in work methods and skills, rules, and regulations of assistance programs for new and veteran employees includes related computer systems and desk management.
- Develop standards for training needs.
- Provide and modify a comprehensive training program for Benefits Planning Division staff; develop and modify trainee performance standards, i.e., statistical data, case checking, test scores, etc.
- Provide clarification and interpretation of local, state, and federal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for technicians, lead workers, supervisors, and managers.
- Work with division and program teams to develop, draft, and implement policies and procedures.
- Assist in division management system design, implementation, and training; act as coordinator for the Department of Human Services on issues related to the system.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries within a large agency structure.
- Perform other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
- Correct applications for Colorado Works, Food Stamps, Medicaid, and Adult Financial programs.
- Regulations and requirements from State Staff Manuals (Volumes III, IV, & VIII) desirable.
- State computer related systems.
- Proper English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Research techniques and sources of data both internal and external to DHS.
- Learning styles and theory and how they impact basic course design, delivery, and evaluation.
- Basic course design, delivery, and evaluation.
- Recognize different learning styles and adapt training to fit individuals.
- Facilitate individual and group training activities for all levels of staff.
- Present training using a variety of methods to ensure all learning styles understand the material.
- Present facts and conclusions in a written, organized, and easily understood form.
- Teach organization and time management principles.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
- One year full time professional work experience obtained after the degree and appropriate to the position description.
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Communication, Education, or in a field closely related to the position description.
- Professional or high level technical work experience which provided the same kind, amounts, and level of knowledge obtained through the required education may substitute year for year for the Bachelor's degree.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver's License.
