Provides support to the Social Caseworker in carrying out a case plan including providing services to the client or family in education, support, and referrals to community resources. Supervises child/parent meetings, coaches families in basic life skills, and provides transportation for children as needed.

  • Receives immediate supervision from a professional-level supervisor and indirect supervision from professional staff.
  • Exercises no supervision.
  • Supervise and coordinate child/parent visitations and interactions both in community and home environments; document interactions for inclusion in case file; staff with assigned caseworker.
  • Provide transportation for children to and from appointments including medical, agency, or parent visitations as needed.
  • Act as an advocate to families providing emotional support and encouragement; provide an open atmosphere to share problems; document information and provide to caseworker to assist in assessing appropriate resources and services.
  • Conduct home visits to provide services and support to clients including educating and assisting the client in basic life skills such as nutrition, budget, housekeeping, food preparation, and shopping; assist clients in meeting special needs of the family as outlined in case plans.
  • Act as a teacher or role model, and demonstrate or coach as an interactive process with clients; provide instruction, guidance, and counseling to parents in basic child development and child rearing techniques and practices.
  • Support professional caseworkers in carrying out case plans; provide assessment of child/client to assist in the decision making processes; document observations and interactions; staff cases periodically or as needed to provide information regarding the safety and welfare of the child.
  • Participate in and attend meetings on client progress; exchange information with other staff, departments, or collateral agencies as appropriate.
  • Make referrals to related programs and services as appropriate.
  • Attend court hearings and testify in court regarding observations of family interactions as needed.
  • May assist clients and caseworkers in the completing the Family Service Plan, including securing information for the social history and assessments summary and signatures as required; assist with gathering and compiling other documentation required in a case, as requested.
  • Perform duties in compliance with health and safety standards to provide a secure environment, specifically in transporting and interacting with clients.
  • Attend seminars, conferences, workshops, classes, lectures, etc., as appropriate, to enhance and maintain knowledge of trends and developments in field.
  • Perform other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.

  • Basic principles, practices, and objectives as related to social services programs.

  • Safe childcare and driving techniques and proper restraint for younger children.
  • Emergency procedures including how to respond to crisis situations.
  • Principles, practices, and objectives as related to case management and planning in a social casework program.
  • Department and County rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and standard operation procedures.
  • Advanced application of community resources, agencies, and organizations and how they affect or apply to cases.
  • Effective parenting methods and family dynamics.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Read and comprehend department and County rules, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support professional staff.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Accomplish the assigned workload in a timely manner and meet established performance standards and objectives.
  • Maintain sensitive and confidential information.
  • Perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Act as a credible witness when testifying in court.
  • Demonstrate effective observation, assessment, and documentation of family and child behaviors.
  • Interview applicants and or clients.
  • Contribute to a treatment plan; apply general concepts to family dynamics.
  • Effectively respond to conflict situations and people in conflict.
  • Maintain timely and accurate records of work performed.
  • Teach basic life skills to others by example.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other County employees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, and members of the community.
  • One year of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities with six months equivalent to that of a Case Aide I.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver's License.
