Culture Change

"Culture change" is the national movement for the transformation of older adult services. This movement is based on person-directed care and practices where the voices of residents, and those working with them, are considered and respected. Person-directed values are choice, dignity, respect, self-determination and purposeful living.

  • Green House Project: A de-institutionalization effort designed to restore individuals to a home in the community by combining small homes with the full range of personal care and clinical services expected in high-quality nursing homes.
  • Culture Change Now: A company of trainers, educators and consultants who assist nursing homes and other elder care organizations in becoming resident-directed.
  • Pioneer Network: Advocates and facilitates deep system change and transformation in our culture of aging.
  • Colorado Culture Change Coalition: seeks to transform the culture throughout the long-term care continuum by affirming the dignity and value of each individual who lives and works in these settings.
