Vehicles Available Per Household

Larimer County encompasses 2,640 square miles. Of the eight communities in Larimer County, the population is concentrated in Fort Collins and Loveland. However, almost 30% of our citizens reside in the unincorporated areas of the county. The following data compare Larimer County households by number of vehicles available to them.

What these data tell us:

The majority of households in the U.S, Colorado and Larimer County have at least two vehicles available. Larimer County has a higher percentage of 'two and three or more' vehicle households than the nation and the state. At the same time, we have a lower percentage of households with 'one or no' vehicle available.

What these data tell us:

Of the households surveyed, the predominance of two car households is apparent when the numbers are shown as a percentage of households in a municipality. Four of the five cities compared had over 41% of households in the community with two vehicles available. Loveland, at 43.3%, had the highest percentage of two vehicle households. Estes Park had the highest percentage of one vehicle households at 42.8%.

What these data tell us:

In the five cities and towns compared, the majority of households surveyed had vehicles available. For example, of the 45,828 households surveyed in Fort Collins, 43,494 had one or more vehicles available, while only 2,334 households had none.
