What these data tell us:

From 2004 through 2009, the number of homes sold in Fort Collins/Wellington and Loveland/Berthoud has steadily declined. Over the last decade, there have been between 1,500 and 2,200 more homes sold in the Fort Collins area than the Loveland area. Over the last decade, 20.4% fewer units were sold in the Fort Collins area and 28.8% fewer units were sold in Loveland/Berthoud.

In terms of the percentage change in total dollar value of sales (i.e., sales volume) from 2008 to 2009, the Loveland/Berthoud area sales volume decreased by 10.2%, while the Fort Collins/Wellington area sales volume decreased by 10.8%. For dollar volume, see the data table.

Compared to other areas in Colorado's Northern Front Range, the Larimer County areas of Estes Park, Fort Collins, and Loveland were mid- to low-range in terms of the median sale price for a residential unit. From 2000 to 2009, the percentage change in residential median sale price varied from a high of 45.9% in Broomfield, to a low of 12.8% in Longmont.
