What this chart shows: Households with Senior Citizens (65 and older) - United States, Colorado, Larimer County, Cities & Towns, 2010

What the above data tell us: According to the 2010 Census, Colorado and Larimer County have fewer senior households than in the United States. In Larimer County this was generally true, although community ratios varied widely. Estes Park, for example, is known as a 'resort' community, and had a higher percentage of seniors at 34.2%, compared to the national rate of 24.9% and the county rate of 18.9%. Wellington, on the other hand, had the lowest rate of seniors at 8.6%, most likely due to the influx of growth associated with families.

What the above data tell us: According to the 2010 Census, the median age in Larimer County (35.5) is lower than the nation's (37.2) and the state's (36.1). Amongst Larimer County's cities and communities, the median age varies from a low of 29.6 in Fort Collins to a high of 60.4 in Red Feather Lakes.

What the above data tell us: Per the 2010 Census, Larimer County has a lower percentage of children under the age of 14 than either Colorado or the nation. There are a larger percentage of residents between the ages of 15 and 24 living in Larimer County, which is partially due to the presence of Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
Larimer County also has a larger percentage of those between the ages of 55 and 64 than either the nation or Colorado.
