What the above data tell us:
In comparing Larimer County with the United States and Colorado in 2010, a smaller percentage of the population in the County is made up of children under the age of 18 (21.4%) than either the U.S. (24.0%) or Colorado (24.4%), but had a higher percentage (66.8%) of adults between the ages of 18 and 64 than the U.S. (62.9%) or Colorado (64.7%). Although Loveland and Fort Collins are often ranked highly in best places to retire, the percentage of residents over the age of 65 (11.9%) falls between the U.S. (13.0%) and Colorado (10.9%).What this chart shows: Population by Age Groups in Larimer County Cities and Towns - 2010

What the above data tell us:
In 2010, Timnath had the largest percentage of children under 18 (32.3%) when compared to other Larimer County communities. Fort Collins had the largest percentage (71.3%) of adults ages 18-64, and Estes Park had the largest percentage (25.2%) of adults over the age of 65.What this chart shows: Population by Race/Ethnicity and Age Groups in Larimer County, 2010

What the above data tell us:
When looking at age groups categorized by race and ethnicity from the United States Census, Hispanics and those identifying themselves as some other race have proportionately higher numbers of children, whereas Whites (non-Hispanics) and Asians have a slightly higher proportion of adults. Caution must be used when interpreting these data because the numbers of citizens in some Larimer County communities/ethnic groups are very small. In 2010, the median age in Larimer County was 1 year, 7 months lower than the median age in the United States. However, when comparing the median age in 2010 to the median age in 2000, the nation (35.3), state (34.3), and county (33.2) are all getting older.Additional Information:
