The Recording Department is responsible for recording documents to make them of permanent and public record and the indexing of. An example of the documents being imaged are warranty deeds, deeds of trust, quit claim deeds, subdivision plats, military discharges, liens, etc. for the general public. The recording fees vary depending upon the type of document, and number of pages. The Recording Department is also responsible for issuing marriage licenses for the general public.
Colorado House Bill 1007, which amends §30-1-103(1) and (4) C.R.S., has been signed into law by Governor Bill Ritter Jr. and takes effect on July 1, 2010. HB1007 makes recording fees uniform on a statewide basis, thereby eliminating confusion for submitters.
The passage of this law will have the following impacts on documents recorded in the Recording Division of the Clerk and Recorder's Office:
This fee adjustment will NOT impact the following documents: Plats, Land Survey Plats, Federal Tax Liens, State Tax Liens, UCC's, and Mining Documents. The fees for recording these documents will remain the same at $6.00 for the first page and $5.00 for each additional page.
Documents received by mail in our office on July 1, 2010 or thereafter will be charged this adjusted fee.
