·  Jim Neubecker and Marija Weeden-Osborn gave a summary of the event.  Both felt it went very well and praised the City of Loveland for their presentations to students.

·  The event will be planned for future.  Would like to be able to visit each employer prior to the event to give details and assistance on what/how to present to the students so employers are better prepared.

·  Mark shared that the Entrepreneurship Series has begun.  It is a 4-part series of workshops, held on Saturdays for 14-18 year olds.  The 4th Saturday (May 14) the group will present their business plans to a group of local business community professionals.  Once the top 5 are chosen, they will present to the entire audience, and winners will be chosen.  Prizes are: 1st Place $250, 2nd Place $200, 3rd Place $150, 4th Place $100, 5th Place $50.  The public is invited from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm in the Hearing Room at 200 West Oak Street, Fort Collins, CO

·  Monica gave an update of the Summer Youth Employment Program.  There were 54 applications in the 1st group info session, 23 of them have completed the Resume & Interviewing workshops and will move onto the soft skills training.  There will be a total of 32 applicants through the 1st round.   Due to demand, they are considering a 2nd round.  They have 41 applications for a 2nd round.  There are currently 7 employers with 12 positions available for the 1st round applicants.  They are looking for additional employers willing to hire a youth over the summer for a total of at least 80 hours at minimum wage.

·  Mark - LCYCC Energy Corps has ended.  Will be starting regular Conservation Corps Teams soon as well as a Sawyer Crew.  Additionally, we are adding an Agricorps group of 8 volunteers between the ages of 14-16 to work up to 20 hours in 4 weeks.  There will be a $400 stipend at the end of the 4 weeks for each participant.

·  Kathy Dotson informed the group about an event being held May 3 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Ranch.  “Seminar for Success” is sponsored by the WYCO partnership (Wyoming/Colorado Workforce Centers, Larimer, Boulder, Weld, and Cheyenne).  The event is open to the public.  There will be approximately 40 youth in attendance who with attend a Career Road Trip immediately following the event.  These youth will visit Embassy Suites, Medical Center of the Rockies, and Kroll Factual Data for career tours and Q&A sessions.  The tours are being sponsored with funds from the BETR Project.  They would like to continue these Career Road Trips over the summer as well.  Application will be available on our website.

·  Kathy D. invited the group to a WIB Luncheon being held from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm on May3.  The purpose is to bring in potential new members for an information luncheon regarding WIB, and to recruit business members to both the WIB and Youth Council.
