LARIMER COUNTY FAIR BOARD MEETING

7:00 p.m.  June 22, 2011

Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. by:  John Lee, Chairman

Presentations:

§      Queens – John Lee reported that the queen’s are working on fund raising and advertising.

§  Ovations – none

 

Chairman’s Topics:   none

 

Committee Reports:  

§  Pancake Breakfast –Loren Maxey reported next committee meeting will be July 6th.   Work assignments and details available at next Fair Board meeting.  Scott Golden reported that Murdock’s will be the pancake breakfast presenting sponsor.  Scott will be meeting with them next Tuesday.  Suggested that a pancake breakfast flyer be included in the camper’s packets.

§  Parade – Pat Young passed out the parade Fair Board member responsibilities sheet.  Please let Pat know if you cannot be present to do the job assigned to you.  Grand Marshal will be Bonnie and Kim Szidon with Ranch-Way Feeds.

 

Liaison Reports:

§  Junior Livestock – Greg Melick reported that next meeting is Tuesday, June 28th.

§  Tough Enough to Wear Pink –Alan Rankin reported Golf tournament is filling up fast.

§  Guest Services –Frank Marion and Francis LaBarbera reported the volunteer orientation will be held on July 19th and July 21st at the McKee building.  They passed around a draft copy of the volunteer handbook for any suggestions or corrections.  They have only 60 volunteers to date.  A second email blast will be going out. A sign-up sheet was passed around for Fair Board member to help with training.  Abby Powell will arrange for Ranch golf carts to use for training. 

 

E xtension:  Laurel Kubin reported busy working on finalizing judge’s contracts, action exhibitors, open class postcards, and fine tuning details.

 

      Rodeo:  Steve Humann reported that each Fair Board member will receive 6 complimentary rodeo tickets.  Steve asked that any other committees or programs please turn in a list of people for tickets Steve and he will get that info to the ticket office.  Encouraged all Fair Board members to make appearances at the meet and greets before the rodeos on the patio.  

 

      Ranch Update:  Abby Powell introduced new event coordinator – Rachel Befort

§  Entertainment–everything booked

§  Building & Grounds – vendor layout available at next meeting

§   Arena Activities – New event- dog sheep herding,  working on barn traffic and parking

§    Marketing – Dave Namesnik reported in Ryan Young’s absence.  Advertising for Fair to start in next 2 weeks.  Billboard campaign, posters passed around for Fair Board to place out in various local businesses.  Suggestion made to have tent cards with sponsors listed on pancake breakfast tables.

  

Sponsorship –Dave Namesnik reported Nordy’s will be sponsoring the mega carnival passes along with ham for pancake breakfast.  To date total cash and trade sponsorships $130,000.00.

Ovations – Phil Hossler reported that the Gnarly Barley event has 24 breweries entered.  Since May sold a total of 200 tickets.  There will be 150 VIP tickets also.  They are planning on expanding the merchandise and will also be selling bottled water inside the event.
