April 21, 2010

I. Meeting was called to order by Val Manning at 12:35 p.m.
II. March minutes were reviewed and approved.
III. Committee Reports
a . Education Committee: “Growing Your Future in Larimer County” was a success with a net profit of $659.55. A motion was made and passed for the funds to be used within the Education Committee. Fort Collins Conservation Service will be hosting a small acreage tour before August of this year.
b . Electronic Media Committee: AAB web site is up and running and Linda Hoffmann gave an overview. Members are asked to send a wish list of what you want on the site, and then a vote will take place at the next meeting.
c. Water Committee: Richard Seaworth is concerned with the water limits being put on agriculture. The committee will be collecting data of economic impact of use of agriculture water. A major issue is that Fort Collins wants water to stay in the Poudre River; they do not want to see the river dry up. Communication is the key between city and town. The AAB water committee will attend and present to various concerned water entities in the county.
d . Land Preservation Committee: Lew Grant is gathering information of the economic value of the agriculture land. Board voted to move forward gathering of information with the possibility of a round table for dialog. This information could be for fact sheet and PowerPoint presentations.
IV. Special Committee Report Special Committee Report for Horse Regulations was reviewed. Changes were suggested and will be made. Board voted to move forward with changes and send a report to the Planning Department.
V. Linda Hoffmann reviewed the committee member structure and some changes were requested and made.
VI. The AAB subcommittees will meet on May 12. This will be a good opportunity to work on information sheets. The next general meeting will be July 14, 2010.
Val Manning, Grant Family Farms will be hosting Farm Spring Tour on June 12, 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Karen Crumbaker, FFA Ag Issues debates will be May 3, at Lory Student Center starting at 8:00 a.m. All are invited.
Gordon Gilstrap solicited input from the AAB to bring to the Upper South Platte Water Shed Impact Forum on April 29, 2010. The concerns of the committee was the preservation of agriculture lands.
