Laramie Foothills-Mountains to Plains Project

Red Mountain Open Space is an important part of the Mountains to Plains Project - a collaborative land protection effort between willing landowners, Larimer County Open Lands Program, the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Program, The Nature Conservancy, Legacy Land Trust and Great Outdoors Colorado. Land protection efforts between partners, in this ecologically and culturally magnificent landscape, have protected over 55,000 acres.

Red Mountain Open Space (owned and managed by Larimer County) and Soapstone Prairie Natural Area (owned and managed by the City of Fort Collins) will be open to the public in mid-2009 following completion of public access and facility construction.

Adopted Red Mountain Open Space Resource Management and Implementation Plan

The Resource Management and Implementation Plan for Red Mountain Open Space was adopted in October 2007, following completion of an extensive citizen-driven planning process.
